Singing in the Rain!

Last November, 

John David became quite fond of the 1952 musical

Singin' in the Rain.

He loved pretending to be Gene Kelly,

acting and singing and dancing.

Although still fond of the movie,

John David doesn't burst into these famous melodies as he once did.

Yet the precipitation tonight prompted some authentic

and very entertaining

singing in the rain! 

I didn't get any pictures of her, 

but little Claire - thanks to her Daddy - joined in the fun too!

(And she sobbed upon having to return inside.  That girl... :) 

Scripture Memory Monday

We're home from our "break."

But do you ever feel like you need a vacation after your vacation?! 

Our family is definitely feeling that today.

It's been a good day though,

attempting to get back to normalcy 

and enjoying sweet reunion time with some of our in-town family.

Amidst the hours of travel and many planned activities,

we did find time to relax and

"Be still..."

But to truly be still ~

what does that look like?

and how can we attain it in this busy world we live in?

I don't think it has to be physical stillness,

though it should look like that more often for many of us. 

It has more to do with our minds.

"Be still, and know that I am God."

Can we really be still,

even if we are engulfed in upheaval all around?

Yes.

How?

". . . . know that I am God."

Can we really be still in this

 dysfunctional, dark world we live in?

Yes.

How?

". . . . I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in ALL the earth!"

Is it really possible to be still in anything-but-calm surroundings 

and often undesirable circumstances?

Or simply while trying to tackle our list of day in and day responsibilities?

Yes.

How?

"The LORD of hosts is with us; 

the God of Jacob is our fortress."

Because God is God,

He WILL be exalted in all the earth,

and His is with us as our ever-present and faithful fortress,

we can indeed

be still.

" [10] Be still, and know that I am God.

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in all the earth!

[11] The LORD of hosts is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress."

Psalm 46:10-11 (ESV)

Taking a Break

The other day John David was playing with his Seven Dwarfs figurines (nonbreakable:),

and he picked Sleepy out of the bunch.

"Sleepy needs a break," he informed me.

He then proceeded to kick back in the recliner and exclaim,

"....And I need a break too!" 

So, we've done it.

We've taken a "break".

When I sign back on,

I hope to have had much Scripture meditation,

many reasons for thanksgiving,

and lots of photos.

Until then . . . 

I hope you can take a break too. :) 



"Roll Tide" Anyway

Despite Alabama's defeat today, 

I still had fun watching my own little football player

exhibit some undefeatable skills.

When we came back inside,

John David began playing with other toys;

one of which was a fishing game.

I told him,

"A person who fishes is called a fisherman."

Still decked out in his uniform - helmet and all -

he replied,

"Are football players fishing mans?"

Behind my smile and affirmative response, I thought to myself, 

"Oh, and you can do whatever you put your mind to, 

my precious son.

I can't wait to see what the LORD has in store!"

Claire is so much like my husband, and I'm so glad!

Along with many other similarities, she is very expressive like her Daddy.

Here are a few "Claire faces" that were captured that day.

And I hope the bib doesn't gross you out too badly.

She enjoyed her lunch! :)

But from the looks of it, I can not remember what she ate!

Thursday's Thanksgivings

I am thankful for the many things that come along with my favorite season.

For starters, there's the delightfully festive  

PUMPKIN PATCH!

David took our kids, along with sweet cousin Ella,

 on a little field trip this past Saturday.

I was at my dear friend Amy's baby shower. 

I am so thankful that I got to see Amy 

and celebrate her precious little boy on the way!

I wish I had pictures from that, but - as you can see - I sent the camera with David.

However, 

I am very thankful for the fun moments (and precious faces) he captured for me.  I thought David did a great job as photographer!

 Though David wonderfully documented the fun outing, 

this picture of John David turned out to be my favorite. 

And then with the season comes (for students, that is) 
the beloved Fall Break!

 Our friend - "Miss Melanie" - was home from school for the week.

I'm so thankful for the time we've gotten to spend with her. 

And - of course - I'm thankful for Melanie's friendship.
