A "Claire Bear" Celebration

September 24, 2010

"Claire Bear":
a gift from JoJo before Claire was born

cousin James,
who's one week younger than Claire

I sure love this precious birthday girl!

a message from Daddy

and in case you happened to notice,
Claire had to change clothes mid-party.
she had a major spit-up episode, which hasn't happened since the infant reflux days.
i guess it was too much excitement and no nap to speak of . . .
John David helping Claire open presents

my older brother's creative, multipurpose wrapping
(his wife and daughter were out of town ;)

enjoying her new prizes
(I love how she sticks her tongue out while concentraing :)

excited about the burning candle

John David helped blow it out

but not too thrilled about trying her cake
(she quickly began signing "all done")

nor was she thrilled about wearing the hat

on the other hand,
John David enjoyed his cupcake
(gluten & dairy free! :)
**Cherrybrook Kitchen makes good mixes and icing

she prefers sweet time
with Sweet T
over a sweet treat any day :)

the train from JoJo and Pappy was a hit for all

the Kizziah clan as a one-year-old foursome

John David was wearing the present he received
for being such a good big brother this past year.
He loves Mickey and needed new pjs :)

Happy Birthday, little Claire Bear!
We love you so much, and we praise the Lord
for the precious gift you are to our family.
It's been a wonderful year!

Katie - you did an amazing job with her party! I so wish I could have been there. It's incredible how fast time seems to fly - one year of sweet Claire! :) Can't wait to see you in just a few short days! Lots of love to the Kizziahs! :)

I'm so glad you posted these! I'm really sorry I missed such a wonderful party. You did a great job making it fun and special and absolutely precious. Your cupcakes and cake were beautiful. Claire had about the same reaction to cake as JD did at his first party. Too funny. Maybe ice cream? :) I loved all the bears, it was a GREAT family portrait, and I also loved seeing James standing up in the background checking out Claire's stuff in her room. P.S. I had not heard about KJ's wrapping yet. That man...

What a cute party!! I love the cake and all of the bear decor. Also, I may have to steal KJ's wrapping idea. What a creative idea! Sterling does the tongue thing too when he is concentrating, so do my dad and brother. I guess it runs in the family. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAIRE!

I'm so thankful for you all. Thank you for taking time to share such sweet & thoughtful comments. :)
I know that Claire could have cared less about details, but I sure had fun preparing to celebrate her first year of life. What a gift it is; worth throwing a party for!! And each of YOU are gifts to me!
